Transport in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch

Buses
The towns of Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch are very well linked by public transport. Two main bus companies, Yellow buses
(See timetable at: http://www.yellowbuses.co.uk/timetables ) and Wilts and Dorset (See timetable at: http://www.wdbus.co.uk/htm/ttSouthern/index.asp) provide timetables that cover almost every area of the towns.

Perhaps the most popular routes are the M1 and M2 by Wilts and Dorset. They run from Poole through Bournemouth to the shopping centre of castle point and Poole to Christchurch through Bournemouth, every 10 minutes. The charges remain quite low for buses in the area with a return ticket from Poole to Christchurch costing just £2 and a weekly bus pass costing £15 for Wilts and Dorset buses.

The average cost of a taxi from Bournemouth centre to Poole centre would be approximately £14 and about the same price from Bournemouth centre to Christchurch centre. Short journeys are charged at £3.97 for the first mile and £2.23 for every mile after.

Coaches
For passengers travelling to other towns, National Express coaches leave every half an hour to London Victoria (with connections to all major U.K towns and Cities) from Poole bus station and Bournemouth’s travel interchange. There are also coaches from Branksome, Parkstone and Westbourne.

Airports
As well as good transport locally and nationally the area also has an International Airport located between Bournemouth and Christchurch, in Hurn. There are flights to many holiday destinations and European cities as well as new flights to the U.S.A and Mexico.

Airport Shuttle
It’s quick and convenient to get to and from Bournemouth Airport by bus.

Bournemouth Airport Shuttle runs between Bournemouth town centre and the airport once an hour from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week, serving the Travel Interchange, East Cliff, the Pier, West Cliff and the Square. Journey times from the Travel Interchange to Bournemouth Airport take just 15 minutes.
